Con apenas 32 años de edad, la ecuatoriana nacida en Esmeraldas, una provincia azotada por la violencia y el narcotráfico, es una creadora de múltiples mundos y cada uno amplifica las historias y memorias de su comunidad afrodescendiente.
Licenciada en Literatura con mención en Artes y Escritura por la Universidad de las Artes de Ecuador, Yuliana combina su pasión por las palabras con un trabajo académico que reflexiona sobre identidad, género, migración y resistencia. Es miembro de colectivos de investigación como Trágico y tránsito y Soltando la palabra, donde explora la pedagogía subversiva y el pensamiento afrocentrado. Su participación en iniciativas como el Mapeo de Feminismos Negros en Abya Yala ratifica su compromiso con las luchas transfronterizas.
Otra de sus pasiones es la música afro del Pacífico, una faceta que conecta directamente con sus raíces y demuestra la flexibilidad de su expresión artística. Esa misma energía vital recorre su obra literaria, donde títulos como Fiebre de carnaval y Canciones desde el fin del mundo tienen ritmos y voces que celebran la riqueza cultural de los pueblos afroecuatorianos.
